About McDowell & Associates

We focus on cost-effective solutions that do not compromise quality

For Over 45 Years

We Have Provided Our Clients With Practical Solutions To Real Problems

McDowell & Associates was founded in 1978 by Bob McDowell as a geotechnical firm that initially focused on heavy construction. Service offerings soon expanded into construction and materials testing to ensure the quality of foundation and pavement installations.

Prior to the 1970’s, due diligence for property acquisition was assessed by the geotechnical engineer. As Environmental regulations were instituted, it became imperative that the purchaser have a clear understanding of the historical use of the property. McDowell & Associates quickly expanded to provide service offerings to fill this gap for clients.

Extensive Knowledge And Data

Over the years McDowell & Associates has amassed an extensive foundation of data on property characteristics in Michigan related to soil and environmental factors. Recently McDowell & Associates has added building condition assessments related to exterior façade elements which incorporate the use of drones. McDowell & Associates is also expanding outside of Michigan when needed to meet our clients needs.

Second and third generation McDowell family members are carrying on the mission of the firm.
